Supports Compliance
Protect your products and meet all regulatory standards with trusted precision and reliability.
TITAN is proud to offer businesses a new, energy-efficient refrigerated container that is engineered to be the most environmentally friendly portable cold room in the world.
Named ArcticStore Horizon, it can help you cut energy costs by up to 30% because of significantly better insulation, while also reducing your carbon footprint. Solar panels (supplied with all rentals) can typically offset up to 25% of the remaining energy use – and even more in some locations.
Combined, that’s a potential energy saving of nearly 55%.
ArcticStore Horizon helps businesses across the industrial landscape demonstrate their commitment to the environment and save money in the process.
When trying to make cold storage units more environmentally friendly, technicians focus on two main areas – insulation and the efficiency of the refrigeration unit itself.
Game-changing new insulation tech is at the heart of ArcticStore Horizon’s sustainability credentials. Thanks to newly developed vacuum insulation panels (VIPs), these hyper-efficient cold storage containers require up to 30% less energy than their predecessors.
This makes ArcticStore Horizon refrigerated containers more affordable than ever to run.
In addition to the energy savings they offer, ArcticStore Horizon containers take sustainability to new levels thanks to high-tech refrigerants that reduce the containers’ GWP (Global Warming Potential) by more than 99.9% – to just 0.5!
Protect your products and meet all regulatory standards with trusted precision and reliability.
Simplify your operations, reduce running costs, boost productivity, and minimise friction.
Prepare for the long term, future-proofing your storage so it evolves as you do.
GWP (Global Warming Potential) ratings measure how much different gases trap heat in the atmosphere compared to CO2, which has a GWP of 1.
Up until very recently, most refrigerants used in fridges, freezers and other cooling systems had GWPs in the thousands – meaning each unit of these gases trapped thousands of times more heat than the same amount of CO2 over a 100-year period.
Starting in 2025, the U.S. requires new refrigerated transport equipment to use refrigerants with a GWP below 700. The EU, meanwhile, is phasing down HFCs almost entirely, with a full phaseout targeted by 2050. This regulatory push has already driven car makers to replace high-GWP R134a (GWP: 1,430) with far lower-GWP alternatives.
The leading alternative, R1234yf, has a GWP of just 0.5.
All ArcticStore Horizon containers use R1234yf refrigerant, which can safely be used thanks to newly engineered cooling units compared to CO2, which has a GWP of 1.
The net result is a drop in GWP levels by more than 99.9%. This is headline news for any business with cold storage needs that takes sustainability seriously.
In addition to ultra-low GWP refrigerants and advanced insulation, all ArcticStore Horizon containers are painted with water-based paint.
This eliminates the use of harmful oil-based alternatives.
While this may seem like a small change, it can add up – especially in the light of 2024 being a record year for container production.
Choosing eco-friendly materials demonstrates TITAN’s commitment to sustainable sourcing and manufacturing, enhancing our eco credentials. By choosing ArcticStore Horizon, you bolster your business’ environmental record, too.
The fourth eco-friendly feature of ArcticStore Horizon containers is solar power, which is offered with all rental contracts.
Our rugged new solar panels, designed especially for the Horizon collection, fit to the roof of any container you hire from us and can be adjusted up to 45 degrees to catch the sun.
Testing shows our solar panels can typically offset up to 25% of the remaining energy use – and sometimes even more, depending on location.
When combined with the ~30% energy savings the Horizon collection’s superior insulation affords, this brings the potential total energy savings to nearly 55% compared to a traditional refrigerated container.
The ArcticStore SmartArctic platform was developed in response to customer requests for remote monitoring of their cold storage systems.
tandard on more than 95% of our cold storage containers, this easy-to-use platform can be accessed via computer, tablet or smartphone and provides total control of any ArcticStore containers (including ArcticStores, SuperStores, ArcticBlast and UltraFreezers) within your cold storage network.
SmartArctic enables remote functionality such as temperature set point changes, defrosting, performance monitoring, status reporting, trend analysis, plus you can log file downloads and configure alarm notifications – from anywhere in the world.
Safe, secure and straightforward, this highly effective service can help you boost efficiencies and drive operational best practices, saving you money in the short, medium and long term.
