TITAN keeps rose wine grapes perfectly chilled in Greece

With average daily temperatures well into the 30s, Greek wine producers needed a chilling solution to keep their Syrah grapes at +5°C. TITAN’s cold storage was the answer! 

The challenge

Greece is famously hot for much of the year – which makes keeping precious Syrah grapes chilled to an optimal 5°C (41°F) rather difficult. TITAN Containers Hellas were asked to come up with a solution that would enable several well-known vineyards in the country to keep their grapes in perfect condition.

The solution

Having explained to our team how important temperature is during the winemaking process, growers from Domain Skouras, Domain Palyvos, Domain Harlaftis, Domain Michalakis and several other vineyards were delighted to hear about our ArcticStore cold storage collection.

Available in 10ft, 20ft and 40ft sizes, this impressive reefer container has proven itself again and again in the food and drinks sector. However, the Greek winemakers didn’t want to push our powerful cold storage units down to their limit (-40°C/-40°F) – they needed a constant +5°C (41°F) instead.

This, they explained, was the perfect temperature to preserve the succulent Syrah grapes that would go into their aromatic rosé wine. And it was well within the capabilities of the ArcticStore, which can maintain temperatures as high as 45°C (113°F).

The vineyards also took delivery of rentals from our energy-saving ArcticStore Tropical collection, too.

The delivery

After rolling through Greek wine country on the back of flat-bed trucks, our containers arrived on site. Once installed and chilled down to the right temperature, grapes were loaded in – and the vineyard owners breathed a sigh of relief in anticipation of next year’s vintage.

The results

Our first foray into the wine sector was a hit, and enquiries from wine clients in other countries quickly followed. TITAN’s ArcticStore containers can be delivered almost anywhere in the world – and we’re predicting it’s only a matter of time before they span vineyards from California to Yamanashi.
